Haan tou, festival time crept upon me. Now I love festivals because it means holidays *Yay* but I also hate them because it means a lot of sweets, which I just can’t seem to stop eating once I stop. It is a curse I say, a deadly curse!!
Khair, I had to fight the calorie war. And this determination set my over smart brain waves into motion. I remembered this microwave cooking class that I had attended a few decades ago. Alright, so it was a few weeks ago and don’t you dare make fun of my extracurricular activities. *Humph* It was fun.
So it was there that I learnt microwaves are a god sent gift to the human race. And in an effort to prove this factoid, I decided to use a long lost bit of information to my suji ka halwa recipe. It worked and now I am the proud initiator of this great microwave suji ka halwa. Enjoy!!
INGREDIENTS:
• Suji – 1 cup
• Water – 3 cups
• Sugar – 1 cup
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
• Set your microwave on the Micro mode.
• In a deep borosil bowl put the suji. Micro the suji for 8 minutes, stirring the suji every 2 minutes.
• After the suji turns brown, set it aside.
• In the same borosil bowl, put the water and sugar. Micro for 8 minutes to make the chashni. (If the sugar has not yet melted, stir the mix with a spoon till the sugar melts. Do not micro for more than 8 minutes)
• Slowly add the suji to the chashni (in the borosil vessel).
• Micro for a further 4 minutes.
• Serve hot
